No Kids? You Still Need An Estate Plan

Estate Planning WorksheetYou can’t take it with you, but you still may want your assets to go where you want them to go, and, if you have no kids, you better document your wishes.

That’s where an estate plan comes into play, even if you have no kids.

Where would you want your stuff to go?

There are only three places: the government, charity or people you care for.

An estate plan also contains health care directives and power of attorney forms, as the person who should make decisions isn’t always obvious if you have no kids, says a story in US News.

And even if you are young and healthy, you will want those decisions in place. You never know what is in store. You could be hit by a car.

So it is best to communicate your wishes in a plan.
